Samhain Mask Making
with Inner Circle Sanctuary
Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 6:00 PM PT

At our holy day sabbat for Samhain, Inner Circle Sanctuary has a dress code. For students, at minimum, is their class robe and a mask. However, in joyous revelry of the season, our Lady Morgana loved to see the finery of medieval or Renaissance style dress with the masks. We'll be decorating up our masks for our Oct/Nov Samhain Sabbat.

Supplies you’ll need:
blank mask forms (fabric is best but any will do)
   scraps of material
   glue or hot glue
   needle and thread
   beading or gemstones
   decorative fabric edging
   feathers
   other decorative items

Our events, especially craft nights, are family friendly, so please feel free to bring a dish and any littles that might want to make some stuff.

We ask for a $10 donation for our events. All money collected will be given to a local community charity.

Please consider one of these Southern Nevada charities that we love. Or, choose your own. Please message us a picture of the receipt so that we can keep track of the donations for posterity.

At our Vendor booth, we will be selling witchcraft items made by the members of our coven. 100% of all money we collect at the vendor booth will be donated right back to Pagan Pride Day Las Vegas.

Inner Circle Sanctuary will also be presenting our standard ritual as a demonstration on how we do things. If time permits, there will be a Q&A afterwards. If not, we will answer any questions at our community booth. Read More Here

Thanksgiving Holiday

11/23/2023

Thanksgiving 2023

Happy Thanksgiving from Inner Circle Sanctuary!

Any Coven (and in our case Temple till 2014) is like a family; a family of your choosing, a family with its own dynamics, a family devoted to the Art Magical.

Even when we are not in Circle, in class, or one of our events, our Coven does have a social aspect that is invaluable. These are life long relationships, starting in the 90s for some of us.

Beyond Magical practices, Covens are shoulders to cry on, hands to help out, and ears that listen. We grow together, go through good times and not so good together, and share experiences other people can't imagine.
Picture
We are very thankful for the people that make up our Coven.

We are extremely thankful for the founders of our Tradition, Lady Morgana and Lord Mordred.

Every class, every Sabbat, everything we do is a living testament to their brilliance and generosity.

We hope you are thankful for the blessings you have in your life, and we hope they are many.

Veterans Day

11/10/2023

Veterans Day 2023

Picture
By all means, thank Veterans and active military members for their service. It is infinitely better than how Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans were treated. Ultimately, what we are saying is "I'm glad you survived."

Joining the Military whether by choice or draft is an acknowledgment of something greater than oneself, and a sacrifice to it. Hopefully, of course, one does not have to make “the ultimate sacrifice”, but the offer is implicit, and there is time, behaviors, relationships, and more aspects of one’s personal life all laid on the Altar when one makes this commitment.

Until humankind gets smart enough to realize that cooperation and compromise is better for the Human Race than competition and consumption, there will always be war. So dual-natured we are as a race, loving our videos of animals displaying compassion, yet also excusing ourselves as part of Nature, which clearly does compete. While regarding ourselves as the top of the food chain, we often wallow in its basest qualities.

My late Grandfather George was a boxer. He was a fight or two away from boxing in the 1936 Olympics. While training me in the basics of pugilism, he described the process of boxing and becoming a boxer as disgusting. “The Sweet Science” should be understood as ironic.
Multiply this by hundreds of thousands, millions even, and you get the truth about militaries and war.

From the money, blood, death, environmental destruction, families impacted, and maybe worst of all the brain power lost, imagine where humanity would be if we had found a way to avoid war. Longevity? The stars?

Most Veterans don’t want war. We know the truth of it. There is no glory. Only a few hot dogs want to put their skills to the ultimate test. Most just want to survive, help our buddies survive, and accomplish the mission.
For all of the preceding narrative, these people were still willing to offer themselves to a cause they thought was just. They put aside their comfort, relationships, education, and bodily worth. They were instead taught how to survive, forge bonds with strangers, taught things like NOT killing unarmed people (even if they are “the enemy”) and in the end, the mission is more valuable than your life.

"I repeat:
the mission is more valuable
than your life."

Sometimes I think those of us who know the reality of reincarnation make the perfect combatant. We will just be reborn to live again. This however does not negate the horrors, sadness, and waste of armed conflict.
Lord Mordred always said Veterans do very well in our Tradition. He was an Army Vet. Lady Morgana’s father ‘Drifter’ was a WW2 Vet, who fought in the Battle Of The Bulge, wearing cowboy boots the whole time. Our man Lord Rune (who was everybody’s man, he was so beloved) was a former active duty Marine; Semper Fi my Lord.
In our Coven now in the Elders Corps, Lady Sistterwolf and Lord Tanys both served. In the second year Coven, Lady Sohlise was a commissioned USAF Officer, and in the first year, Lady Xiomara’s child just returned from Army Basic Training - can you imagine passing ICS tests while worried about your baby??
Much like my actual family has served in every major war all the way back to the Civil War, many of Inner Circle Tradition’s members have served, and we salute them: Lord Mordred and Lord Rune as already mentioned, Lord Karonis, Lord Borea, Lord Kahles (RIP). Lady Hypolytaa’, Lady Achara, Lady Sierra, Lord Elistan, Lord Rayven, and if I have overlooked any Veterans, my apologies and please let me know.

The way we see it,
Coven also,
is something greater than oneself.

And while it does not carry the same risks as military service, Its rewards are even greater. Lady Morgana used to call us The Marine Corps of Wicca. Our members prove that daily. Would you, could you be one of us?

We are a safe active space for Veterans and aspiring Witches alike.
We Work (Capital W) for the end of war, and the evolution of our race, the Human Race.

As we are still in the 2nd Decan of Scorpio, the associated cards for Veterans Day are: 6 of Cups, The Sun, & Death.

If it was easy, it wouldn't be cool

1/27/2023

We posted a meme recently, the punchline of which being our nightly practice of Witchcraft.
Picture
Funny and cute (I mean who doesn't like Pinky and The Brain) but true.

On any given week, we have Online First Year Class on Monday, live First Year Class on Tuesday, New Student Class online Wednesday, live Second Year Class Thursday, Elders on Friday, and live First Year Class on Sunday Morning.

We have one Public Event a month (at least) on Saturday, plus other special events. We have a Sabbat Practice the Sunday before every Sabbat.

In between, we do other public events, Initiations, and Rites Of Passage.

And our Elders and Coveners have their individual practices to attend to as well. As Thorn Mooney said in one of her excellent videos, [You are still a Solitary Witch even when you are a member of a Coven.] I paraphrase, but you get the gist.

This is how Lady Morgana and Lord Mordred did it, and we carry their Lineage. It is our way of life, it is our honor, and it is our responsibility.

It is also as convenient for students (Lady Morgana would call us Witchlings; how I miss that!) as we can make it. Notice I didn't say easy- "but if it was easy, it wouldn't be cool."

Wicca Is So Frigging Awesome

11/24/2022

Thanksgiving Edition 2022
Picture
I am very thankful Wicca is my way of life. I am particularly thankful for Lady Morgana’s Tradition, which we carry on to this day, and into the future. I am thankful for this Coven, Inner Circle Sanctuary, which is made up of so many wonderful people, new and long term, from so many different backgrounds, who make us the hardcore, hard working, proud Coven that we are.

There’s a lot to unpack in the preceding statement.  Wicca is so widespread now, so recognized, it may be easy to forget that it wasn’t always that way. It certainly wasn’t that way in the 90s even, in Family Court, when I had to teach the Family Specialists and even the judge about it, while fighting for custody of my son. It certainly wasn’t when our founder, Lady Morgana, started teaching her brand of Witchcraft to the public, and established Temple Of The Inner Circle. I am so thankful that Wicca is so widespread now, and so recognized- as it should be!

We are sometimes asked what Tradition we are, and we have sometimes joked around with trying to create a clever “-ian” type of name for us, but realistically, our Tradition is the Inner Circle, the Mystical Dragons- names chosen by the “first brood” of TOTIC students, and approved by Lady Morgana. Although we had two beloved Gardnerians as Elders (Lady Pandora and Lord Loki) we are not Gardnerian. Although we use A Witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar as our first year textbook, we are not Alexandrian. We are Lady Morgana’s people.

While generations come and go, and members come and go, Lady Morgana’s Tradition continues thanks to its members. Our members are hardcore. Does that seem an odd descriptor for a Wiccan? Does that not fit with your understanding of Wicca? Hardcore describes us to a T. One of our mottoes is Wicca To Be Proud Of and that takes hard work. Lots of it. Years of it. But the funny thing is when you love it, as we do, it doesn’t seem like work. It never gets old. I get as excited for each class and each Sabbat as I ever have.

I am very proud of our Tradition, Lady Morgana’s Tradition, and all of our Coveners, of every degree. I also hear from Temple members who continue to practice as Lady Morgana taught us, and am very thankful for that. It is a rich Tradition, a deep Tradition, that constantly reveals its brilliance to me, and clearly to those people who see it as a way of life.

While never “Bastardizing the Craft” as Lady Morgana put it, Temple Of the Inner Circle evolved over time, and Inner Circle Sanctuary continued this evolution. It is a very well thought out Tradition, both through research and practice, tradition and experimentation. Lady Morgana defined Wicca as “a disciplined philosophy” and this continues to be our modus operandi.
Lady Morgana
We teach six days a week, have a public lecture at least once a month, and of course celebrate every Sabbat. In between, we practice, perform Initiations, Handfastings, Requiems and other rites of passage. And alone, our members are expected to have a consistent daily magical practice. Lady Morgana’s opening line in new student class back in the Temple days was “Sooo, you vant to be vitches?” in a glorious, over the top German accent. I knew I did. I still do.

You may notice I use Wicca, Witch, and Pagan almost interchangeably. This is intentional. Not necessarily to piss certain people off (though this is a happy benefit) but because we are. Our practice consists of all of these (and more), to the point where silly limitations disappear, and all are one for achieving mystical and magical results. This is the way we were raised, and I am VERY thankful for it.

I am very thankful for Inner Circle Sanctuary. I am very thankful for Temple Of the Inner Circle. The former being my life’s work, the latter being my true Alma Mater.

If you are Wiccan, I hope you are proud of your practice, and thankful for Wicca. I know I am.

Litha 2022

8/28/2022

Altar ICS Litha 2022
Litha, Camera, Action!

Ah, Litha - that most glorious Sabbat! Sunna shines, but the hottest days of Summer are not yet upon us. This year, it was as if the Gods of the North blessed us with one more cold evening to remember them by. I loved it!

We call this time Litha, in the manner of the old Anglo-Saxons, as described by Bede. I first read about the Anglo-Saxon names of Moons/months in the excellent novels Rhinegold by Stephan Grundy, and The Wolf And The Raven by Diana Paxson. I much prefer these over the uncited Moon names found in most modern Pagan books and calendars. They are also indicative of the ever evolving nature of Wicca, which draws inspiration from ancient sources, made usable by modern practitioners.
Sun Symbols ICS Litha 2022
These Sabbat names, much like Magical Names, Robes, Magical Tools, etc. make for a more highly charged magical environment. Virtually everything we do is aimed at this singularly focused goal. Along these same lines, we refer to the Solstices and Equinoxes as Solar Sabbats, and they are an essential part of the Wheel of the Years. There are no Greater or Lesser Sabbats in our Tradition; all of our Sabbats are great!

But I digress.

Litha marks the end of Gemini and the start of Cancer. Lady Morgana also told me it was her favorite Sabbat*, thanks to the procession of torches. The torches have become various flameless luminaries over the past three decades, thanks to the massive drought we are surviving here in the West. ICS like TOTIC before us, fastidiously follows all fire restrictions that are established to cut down on the threat of wildfires. Anybody that doesn’t should stay their inconsiderate asses home. Especially as windy as it was!
Circle before ICS Litha 2022
Building the Temple ICS Litha 2022
The day was beautiful and bright, and the site was one of our favorites. Several of our people were away on Summer vacation, and some were out with Covid, but our smaller crew laid out the Ring and set up a gorgeous Altar. Sabbat days, while a lot of work is involved, are also great social times and a wonderful bonding experience.

As nightfall approached, the call “Robe up!” went up. There is just nothing like all of your fellow Witches decked out in their Sabbat Best! Our procession for paying respects is a time honored and beautiful part of our Tradition.

The Ring was further prepared by a Pentagram Ritual, and the Maiden of the Ring sweeping it with the traditional chant given to us by Lady Morgana’s Lady
Pentagram Ritual ICS Litha 2022
Our Quarters were called by two first timers, and a First Degree Initiate and an Elder. One thing about our Tradition that is different from most is that we call our Quarters before throwing a Ring, mainly so it isn’t immediately broken. The mix of energy of the different levels of experience amongst these folk was very exciting, and magically effective.

In our Coven, everyone can and often does play every part, regardless of gender. The Priestess of Bealtaine served as the Priest of Litha. The Priestess of Litha will be playing the Priest of Mabon. Looking back a year, Litha 2021 featured 2 males playing Priest and Priestess. We truly embody our Lord Mordred’s motto ‘Everyone Has A Right To The Goddess’ and our Sabbats are all the better for it!
Leaders ICS Litha 2022
Drawing Down the Moon ICS Litha 2022
Our Priest and Priestess this year have been classmates for quite a long while and were perfectly attuned to each other. They moved together as if in a dance, and led the Coven in this dance. This takes the form of a spiral with the procession of torches, which then light the Center “Fire”. It’s so much fun!

After the Ring is picked up, and the Quarters dismissed, all take part in the consecrated beverage and cakes, and at Litha, we dance some more, and listen to the wise words of a yearly chosen “Old Man.” She was awesome!

Piles of food. Drink. Songs, jokes, and stories. The Farrars write that Sabbats should become a party, and ours always do. Even the wind, more so even than at Bealtaine, was very much an honored Sabbat guest. C’est la vie!
Founders ICS Litha 2022
Litha was fabulous. This high point of the year was celebrated in high fashion - as was the online Sabbat, which involved several Witches who couldn’t attend the live event.

Now comes the heat of the Summer- the sign of Cancer and the first half of Leo, before Lammas is here. The providence of the Earth Mother becomes apparent before the first harvest and this Litha was a triumphant way of kicking it off! We are so proud of all the Great Work our people have done. It’s one of the most gratifying aspects of being a Guardian of our Tradition.

*Lady Morgana named each Sabbat as her favorite Sabbat depending on the time of year, and to whom she was speaking. One of the beautiful things about Wicca is its adaptability. If you don’t feel about all the Sabbats the way Lady Morgana did, you can change them so that they all become your favorite.
