Let's Talk About Witchcraft Q & A with Inner Circle Sanctuary
Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 6 - 9 PM
Join ICS for an open discussion about what it’s like being part of a coven during a time of isolation and forced solitary practice.
Being part of a coven doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not a solitary witch. Our coven members and students are taught how to practice on their own and be successful solitary witches, even though they are part of a large group. Group magic is fulfilling and powerful, but you can be just as effective when working by yourself.
Step 2: Open all doors and windows. Crush up some juniper berries and burn them on charcoal in your censer or other fire-proof bowl. Walk through every room visualizing the smoke clearing away all negativity while saying:
“Fire and air Water and Earth Cleanse this home Cleanse this hearth”
Step 3: Put a couple pinches of salt in a bowl of water. After it has dissolved, walk through every room and sprinkle in the corners of each room saying: “Fire and air Water and Earth Cleanse this home Cleanse this hearth”
Step 4: Close all doors and windows. Light a new piece of charcoal and burn some frankincense and myrrh resin. Walk through every room and let that smoke bring positive and uplifting energies into your home. Saying: “Power strong and power bright Fill this home with love and light.”
Step 5: Invite friends over and have some fun to bring a happy, healthy atmosphere into your home.
2020 Update The Autumn Equinox will occur on September 22, 2020 at exactly 6:31 AM. The Autumn Equilux in Las Vegas will occur on September 25, 2020 - there will be 12:00:39 of daylight (hours/minutes/seconds).
Sun and Moon 1493
The equinox is not really when the day and night are equal. We know that "equinox" derives from the Latin: aequinoctium - "aequi" or "equi" + noct (nox) or night or "equal night"... but No, not equal by a few minutes of the day
At the precise moment of the EQUINOX, there are three things happening:
1.) the sun is at zenith over the equator 2.) where the sun rises, it does so exactly in the east and where it sets it does so exactly in the west and 3.) both northern & southern hemispheres are EQUALLY illuminated on the side of the planet that the sun is shining on.
For us, here in Las Vegas, the EXACT moment of the equinox happened at 1:22 AM, earlier today. That's it. That one precise moment in time at 1:22 AM was the equinox.
Here in Las Vegas, dawn was at 6:29 AM and sunset was at 6:36 PM; giving us 12 hours and 6 minutes of daylight. Not equal. (But it's only six minutes... you can't forgive 6 minutes?!) No.
There are two reasons for this inequality: First, the sun is not a point in the sky. It is a disk. The apparent size of the sun (it's BIG & CLOSE) matters. Second, the atmospheric refraction of the sunlight in relation to the latitude of your location. The earth's atmosphere bends the light adding or subtracting how much actual daylight you have. Check this site for a more thorough explanation: Day and night exactly equal at equinoxes? By Bruce McClure)
Somewhere in the early 2000's, someone (probably my soul twin), usurped the word "Equilux" to mean 'equal day and night'... taken from a lighting term meaning 'equal illumination' or 'equal light'.

But despite that most don't exactly know the astronomical details, the Autumnal Equinox is a time to give "Thanks" for the success of our harvests, whether literal or metaphorically, and to prepare and look to the future return of that bounty.
We pay respects to the coming forces of night and Winter and learn from them as we ourselves prepare for the dark season ahead. The night starts waxing and the day begins waning and we are reminded that nothing ever remains without change.
The Inner Circle Sanctuary celebrates all these aspects of the Autumn Equinox in it's ritual. We honor the Old Ones and pay respects to our ancestors by doing as they did in this season; by giving offerings from the harvest back to Mother Earth and to mark the season.
We hope your Autumnal Equinox was filled with love, laughter, family, and friendship... and a deep and loving connection with all that envelops us.

Our Founder, the late Lady Morgana, was a magnet. She attracted students (like us) to her, as well as clients and customers from every Tradition and all walks of life to her stores, from Mystical Powers, to Cat n Cauldron and finally Bell, Book and Candle.
Early in the 2000s, a woman walked into Bell, Book and Candle, and handed a bunch of Golden Dawn type Rituals, and Ritual Objects used by her small working group that practiced in Carmichael, CA, in 1980 to our Lord Mordred.
Though the quality of the scans isn't great, it is interesting to read how the group assigned the parts and kept everyone busy. As the Equinoxes are a time of balance, they are considered to hold great power. The Great Work of Sandy, Jim, Gary, Chris, and Alan lives on.
Inner Circle Sanctuary also receives and curates Ritual Items and Magical Materials from our Founders, Elders and friends as a part of our Mission, and for posterity.
My first experience with Lucifer was on my Mother’s High School friend’s farm in Central Pennsylvania. It was a beautiful place. And if you know anything about PA, or have been there, you know how spooky it can be, and how haunted it is! But, really this was even more frightening- because Lucifer was a goose.
The author of Aradia or the Gospel of the Witches, Charles Leland, was born on August 15, 1824 in beautiful Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Princeton University, and in addition to his regular studies, studied Hermeticism and Neoplatonism, which undoubtedly served him well as a future folklorist and author of magical texts. Not just an Academic, he was a freedom fighter in the French Revolution of 1848, and served the Union in the Civil War, and was at the Battle of Gettysburg.
