Happy birthday to our favorite adept,
He was born on December 1, 1909 in Czechoslovakia and lived quite a colorful life until he died in prison on July 10, 1959. Most of the information about Bardon’s life comes from the novel ”Frabato the Magician,” which is a fictionalized autobiography compiled from outlines, notes, and correspondences with his secretary and student Otti Votavova. Legend has it that Bardon had been previously incarnated as Hermes Trismegistos. When Bardon was 14, a spirit manifested itself into Bardon’s form and brought with it all the knowledge of hermetics. http://www.franzbardon.com/aboutfranzbardon.html
During his 50 years of life, he was a sewing machine mechanic, a stage magician named Frabato who taught occult secrets while also performing them, a naturopath who could balance the elements inside a human body and cure diseases, a hospital administrator, and finally a published author. He was arrested and imprisoned three times in his life. The first time was in 1942. Because he refused to share his magical abilities with the Nazi party, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp for 3 years. The second time was in 1949 when he was accused of being a charlatan and forced into hard labor. The final time was in 1958. He incurred the wrath of the Czechoslovakian government when they found out he was producing medicine from his home next to the hospital he worked at. It was during this imprisonment when he died of pancreatitis in 1959.
Near the end of his life in 1956, through the urging of Divine Providence, he published three books that created an entire magical system that is still being studied and practiced. “Initiation Into Hermetics,” “The Practice of Magical Evocation,” and “The Key to the True Kabbalah” all helped the true seeker learn and understand the complex theories of Hermeticism. Humans inherently contain all four elements of fire, water, air, and earth, along with the divine spark. Bardon believed that for humans to achieve spiritual enlightenment and to understand the universe and their place in it, they needed perfect tetrapolar balance of all five of these elements. His books taught the serious student to do just that. Whether you read his books merely as a curiosity or whether you’ve studied them for years, his books have something for everyone.
Inner Circle Sanctuary would not be what it is today without Franz Bardon. Our Dark Lord lovingly called Hermetics the gnat’s ass of magic; therefore, Bardon is required study for our 2nd year program. Bardon’s “Initiation Into Hermetics” teaches mastery of the five elements of fire, water, air, earth, and spirit. The students who do master these concepts go on to become our coven leaders and elders, because they’ve proven themselves to be serious students of the Craft.
