Improvise! Adapt! Overcome! has long been a motto of Inner Circle Sanctuary. That motto was put to the test recently with the viral outbreak of COVID19. As state and federal officials were calling for self-isolation, many events locally, as well as throughout the country were cancelled. Non-essential businesses were closing doors, people were asked to go home and if you didn’t have to go out, then #stayhome. Inner Circle Sanctuary is very good at keeping up with local and world events and the Elders were watching with a careful eye, to see how all of this would unfold. Our coven members’ safety is our first priority and with the implementation of social distancing for the next 30 days as ordered by our governor, our Ostara sabbat fell smack dab in the middle. The country being quarantined because of a major pandemic was new, and the realization that ICS may CANCEL a sabbat was unfathomable! In the 29 years that this coven has operated, it has never missed a sabbat. BUT…. how were we going to make it happen when group gatherings were not permitted? We Improvised, Adapted and Overcame! That’s how! In just a few days, our Elders had figured out the best possible method for all of our members to celebrate the sabbat together, while still maintaining the social distance mandate. History in the making!! Inner Circle Sanctuary, for the first time ever, had an online sabbat, with all of our coven members in attendance. Although there were some glitches here and there, it went very well and we were pleasantly surprised. Some members comments: “Being able to see everyone’s altars at home, to me, was one of the most valuable experiences because I saw how much love and effort people put into theirs.” -Lady Revontulet “I was recharged and I did feel like I could’ve stayed up all night because of the energy I felt.” -Lady Ravenswolfe “I did not expect such a powerful sabbat to translate through a medium as impersonal as a chat room intended for conference meetings.” -Lord Ambrelle “What I got from this ritual was a togetherness that I NEVER expected to have by participating on my phone.” -Lady Anndressa While our coven members can’t wait until we can celebrate the sabbats physically together again, we are all doing our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We are practicing safe distancing, washing our hands regularly and following all of the guidelines from the CDC. If we have to go out, we try to minimize the risk by keeping everyone's safety in mind. When we come home, we have safety precautions in place, as to not infect our families. We hope you’re doing the same. Here’s to looking forward to our next sabbat…. however it may come to fruition. Blessed Be.
